Glenn Joseph Roy was born on June 3, 1938 at Langdon, ND, the home of his parents, Daniel and Veronica (Hell) Roy. He attended St. Alphonsus Catholic School, graduating in 1956. He joined the United States Army, serving his country as a medic with the “Big Red One” squadron. After his honorable discharge in 1958, he returned to Langdon and began employment with REA. (Rural Electric Association). Glenn was united in marriage to Rosalie Christenson of Edinburg on December 9, 1961 at Park River, ND. They established their home in Devils Lake where Glenn worked as Produce Manager (known as one of the best in the business) at National T until it closed. He then began working at the Montgomery Wards Store and after its closing he worked in the Montgomery Wards Catalog Store. Before retiring in 1996 due to health problems, Glenn worked for Leever’s as the assistant manager of the Liquor Locker.
Glenn was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing and especially rides in the country with family and friends. It was a time to tell stories of his many adventures while hunting and to enjoy the beauty of nature. Of course the deer hunting soon led to “Glenn’s famous deer sausage and jerky”. But the greatest joys in Glenn’s life were his loving wife, children and grandchildren. A quote from a dear friend states, “Glenn and Rosalie raised three wonderful children and as a family, they brought much happiness and joy to others”.
