Charlotte “Char” E. Storsteen, 64 of Devils Lake, ND passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Thursday, July 15, 2010 at MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, ND.
Funeral Services for Charlotte will be held on Monday, July 19, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Devils Lake. Rev. Reuben Schnaidt will officiate and burial will be in the Devils Lake Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Sunday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service and Time of Remembrance at 7:00 p.m. Visitation on Monday will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral service.
Serving as Casket Bearers for Char will be Robert Schneider, Gary Roed, Bill Roed, Barry Cox, Richard Windjue and Gordon Sather.
Charlotte Elaine, the loving daughter of Lawrence Orville and Helen Elaine (Neil) Forness was born on August 26, 1945 in Devils Lake, ND where she was reared and educated. Charlotte was married to John Frith on April 6, 1962 in Devils Lake. They established their home in Grand Forks until John graduated from Law School. They then moved to Bismarck, Fargo and Scottsdale, Arizona and eventually to the family farm in rural Devils Lake. Charlotte was a devoted mother, raising her four children while working in the Devils Lake area and also establishing and operating her own business, Gifts Unique.
Charlotte was united in marriage to Richard Storsteen on July 8, 1994 in Devils Lake. They made their home in Milwaukie, Oregon. In 2000, they returned to Devils Lake where they have since made their home. Char again worked for several area businesses and retired from Jerry’s Wearhouse due to ill health. In 2005, Charlotte was fortunate enough to be the recipient of a lung transplant. She considered this a very special blessing in her life.
Charlotte was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church and very active with the Youth Program and also the Christmas Bazaar Committee. She was a member of the Women's Bowling Association and also Beta Sigma Phi. She attended all of her children’s sporting events and was a busy grandmother, interested in hearing about all the activities of her grandchildren.
Charlotte is survived by her husband, Richard; daughter, Tracy and her husband, Tony Hass of Milaca, Minnesota, son, Jeff Frith and his wife, Shari of Devils Lake, daughter, Charla Frith and her friend, Shawn Schmidt of Fargo, ND, son, Judd Frith and his wife, Sara of West Fargo, ND; step children, Debra Schafer of Devils Lake and Vicki Chaifetz of Charlotte, North Carolina; nine grandchildren, Alex, Elliot and Nathan Hass; Spencer Frith; Megan, Cameron and Landen Lizakowski; Hannah and Easton Frith; six step grandchildren, Amanda (Eric) Klemetsrud and her children, Jaylen and Kaylie and Katie, Erin, Sarah and Emily Schafer and Brianna Chaifetz;
Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents;
