Dean M. Anderson, 54 of Valley City, formerly of Devils Lake, ND died Wednesday, September 5, 2007 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Fargo, ND.
A Memorial Service for Dean will be held on Tuesday, September 11, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at the Gilbertson Funeral Home Chapel, Devils Lake. Military Honors will be accorded by the Neathery-Simensen Post #756, Devils Lake Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Friends may call at the Gilbertson Funeral Home on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.
Dean Marshal Anderson was born on February 24, 1953, the son of Martin and Marion (Pederson) Anderson at Devils Lake, ND where he was reared and educated. He entered the United States Army on February 26, 1970 at Fargo, ND and served his country with B Company as an aircraft crewman during the Vietnam War. Dean was honorably discharged on March 7, 1972 with the rank of Specialist 4th class.
After his discharge, Dean took to the road and made the highway his home. He was truly known as the “Highway Man”. He traveled extensively throughout the United States, working at various jobs including carpentry, plumbing and driving a semi-trailer. He spent several years in Colorado, Wyoming and Oklahoma.
Of the many different jobs Dean had, he especially enjoyed working at the “Sunshine Inn’ in Hamberg, ND. Dean was at one time married and they had a daughter, Erin.
Dean enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was always known to have a good time where ever he was. He lived his life to the fullest and explored the beauty and wonders of the country he so proudly served.
Dean is survived by his daughter, Erin Anderson of Jamestown, ND
Grandson: Chase Finck also of Jamestown.
Mother: Marion J. Anderson of Valley City, ND
Brothers: Dennis Anderson and Donald (Sheryl) Anderson
Sister: Dawn (Todd) Dauphinais all of Devils Lake
Many Nieces and Nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by his father, Martin; twin sister, Debra; brother, Darrell and both his maternal and paternal grandparents.
