Robert “Bob” G. Rollings, 80, a long time Devils Lake, ND resident died Sunday, November 26 at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND with his loving family at his side.
Funeral Services for Bob will be held at 11 am, Wednesday, November 29, 2006 at the First United Methodist Church, Devils Lake, ND. Rev. Marvin Winstryg will officiate and Military Honors will be accorded by the Neathery-Simensen Post #756, Devils Lake Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Visitation will be Tuesday, November 28 from 1pm until 9 pm with a Prayer Service at 5:30 pm at Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake, ND. Visitation on Wednesday will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral service.
Serving as Casket Bearers for Bob will be Eugene Lang, Julius Schafer, E.J. “Sonny” Hinderscheit, Armen Hanson, Michael Klemetsrud and Robert “Bob” Upgren.
Honorary Pallbearers will be all those in the North Dakota State Game and Fish Department.
Music will be provided by Mary Oehlke, soloist and Lynda Pearson, organist.
Robert Graham Rollings was born the son of Robert and Bessie (Graham) Rollings on November 7, 1926 at Lake Crystal, MN. On November 14, 1944, Bob enlisted in the United States Navy and served his country during World War II. He was Honorably Discharged on July 5, 1946 with the rank of Seaman First Class. He graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in Fish and Wildlife management. Bob was united in marriage to Bettymae Bell on September 20, 1952 at Minneapolis, MN. In 1953, he took a job as a Biologist with the North Dakota Game and Fish Department. They moved to Devils Lake where they would live, work and raise their family through the years.
Bob was a speaker at many wildlife meetings throughout his career. He took great pride in Wakopa Recreational Area, of which he played a major role in its development and improvements. He was involved in purchasing land for wildlife management within the state. Bob was also active in establishing wildlife and upland game habitat. He received the SAFARI Club International Conservationist of the Year in the state of North Dakota in 1969.
Bob was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Methodist Men’s Club and was a senior high Sunday School teacher for many years. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion Club of Devils Lake.
Bob is survived by his wife of 54 years, Bettymae of Devils Lake

He was preceded in death by his mother and father.
