Josella V. Hart, 89 of New Rockford formerly of Sheyenne and Fort Totten, ND died on Thursday, January 11, 2007 at the Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd in New Rockford.
Funeral Services for Josella will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake. Deacon Tony McDonald will officiate and burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Sheyenne, ND.
Visitation will be held today, Friday, January 12, 2007 from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service all at the Gilbertson Funeral Home.
Serving as Casket Bearers for Josella will be her grandsons and great grandsons, Donald Dean Hart, Dale Hart, Dustin Hart, Mitchell Hart, Blake Hart, J.J. Bursheim, Kendall Kipp and also Luis Guerrero.
Music will be provided by Tony and Vina McDonald, Joyce Affeldt, Josella’s niece, and Hunter Hart, Josella’s great grandson.
Josella Violet Ironheart was born on April 28, 1917 at Granite Falls, Minnesota, the daughter of Joseph and Myrtle (Wilcox) Ironheart. At a young age, she moved with her family to Fort Totten where she attended school. In 1936, Josella was united in marriage to Chauncey W. Hart at Granite Falls where they established their home. After Chauncey began working for the Army Corps of Engineers they lived for a time in Pierre, South Dakota and later in Riverdale, ND. After they retired, they continued to make their home in Riverdale where they owned and operated “Sakakawea Arts and Crafts” located east of Riverdale. Josella made many of the items sold in the store including, teepee lamps, fringed scarves and other crafts. They later sold their shop and moved back to Sheyenne, ND. In January of 2002,
they moved to the Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd. Chauncey died on February 6, 2005.
Josella was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and she was active as a homemaking counselor and social relations teacher.
Josella enjoyed music and played piano, guitar and accordion. She was in a band for several years and was a volunteer entertainer at area nursing homes. Josella also loved to bake and share her creations with family and friends.

Daughter-In-Law: Patsy Hart of Shakopee
Many Nieces, Nephews, Grand Nieces and Grand Nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, C.W. Hart; son, Donald Hart; grandsons, Derek and Coby; three sisters and one brother.
