Ione (Haugen) Vanderlin, 88 of Devils Lake, ND died on Saturday, November 25, 2006 at the Methodist Hospital, St. Louis Park, Minnesota.
Mass of Christian Burial for Ione will be held on Thursday, November 30, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Devils Lake. Fr. Philip Vanderlin, OSB will celebrate the Mass and burial will be in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation for Ione will be at Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Wednesday, November 29, 2006 from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary and Scripture Service at 5:30 p.m. The Rosary will be led by the Catholic Daughters. Visitation on Thursday will be at the church one hour prior to the Mass.
Serving as Casket Bearers for Ione will be her grandsons, Darrin Knudsvig, James Vanderlin, Brian Vanderlin, Michael Vanderlin, Jay Corkran and Ed Gaeraths.
Music will be provided by Lynne Webster, soloist and Audrey Myklebust, organist
Reading the Scriptures and Gift Bearers will be members of the Vanderlin Family.
Ione Haugen was born on June 4, 1918 in Perth, ND the daughter of Peter and Rena (Dalin) Haugen. She came to Devils Lake at the age of 5. She was educated in Devils Lake schools, graduating from Devils Lake Central High School in 1936. She was united in marriage to Frank Vanderlin on November 8, 1939 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. They established their home on the family farm, rural Devils Lake and lived in Devils Lake for a time also. Frank died on December 17, 2001. Ione devoted her time to caring for her husband and family. She also worked at Montgomery Ward as credit manager for 20 years and at Glickson’s for 10 years as office manager.
Ione was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Altar Society and the Catholic Daughters.

Fr. Philip Vanderlin, OSB of Jackson, Wyoming
Ken Vanderlin and his wife, Patty of Minnetonka, MN
Daughters: Lois Knudsvig and her husband, Mel of Williston, ND
Mary Elaine Vanderlin of St. Paul, Minnesota
Helen Corkran also of Minnetonka
Sixteen Grandchildren
Sixteen Great Grandchildren
Sister-In-Law: Rosie Haugen of Fergus Falls, MN
Many Nieces and Nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frank; infant son, Ronald John Vanderlin; brothers, Lyle, Paul and Freeman Haugen; sister, Bernice Moe and son-in-law, Bertt Corkran.
