Pearl Myrtle Rickert, 88 of Devils Lake, ND died Thursday morning, October 21, 2010 at the Heartland Care Center, Devils Lake, ND.
Funeral Services for Pearl will be held on Monday, October 25, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the Gilbertson Funeral Home Chapel, Devils Lake with burial in the Devils Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home on Monday from 8:30 a.m. until time of service.
Pearl Myrtle was born on December 8, 1921 at Lakota, ND, the daughter of Haakon and Ellen (Peterson) Bensrud. Pearl helped her family on the family farm in Michigan, ND. Myrtle was united in marriage to George Rickert on August 3, 1954 at Devils Lake, ND. They established their home in Devils Lake where they lived and worked through the years. George died on July 6, 1970.
Myrtle was well known around Devils Lake for her cooking and baking. She made many wedding cakes and donuts and even became known as the “Donut Lady”. She also made and sold lefsa. Myrtle enjoyed gardening and her needle point work.
Myrtle is survived by her brother, Rudolph Bensrud and his wife Florestine of Lino Lakes, Minnesota; nieces, Sherrie Bohnen of Forest Lake, Minnesota, Cynthia Grant also of Lino Lakes and Jeanine Mehdizaheh of Tucson, Arizona and many dear friends.
Myrtle was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George and brother, Henry Bensrud.
