Lorena C. Nordrum, 95 of Devils Lake, ND died early Thursday morning, June 29, 2006 at the Heartland Care Center, Devils Lake.
Funeral Services for Lorena will be held on Monday, July 3, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Devils Lake. Rev. Harold Ovre will officiate and burial will be in St. Peter Cemetery, rural Minnewaukan, ND.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 2, 2006 at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake from 1:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Visitation on Monday will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral service.
Serving as Casket Bearers for Lorena will be Del Nordrum, Bryan Nordrum, Steve Nordrum, Cleland Jacobson, Duane Ericksmoen, Joyce Trangsrud and Gary Bryn.
Lorena Charlotte Olson was born on October 31, 1910 at Minnewaukan, ND the daughter of Joseph and Caroline (Larson) Olson. She was reared and educated in the Minnewaukan area. She attended the Good Samaritan Hospital School for Nurses in Rugby, ND and graduated as a Registered Nurse on September 24, 1931. After graduating, she served as the Benson County Health Nurse for several years. On September 21, 1938, Lorena married Norman A. Nordrum at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Devils Lake. They established their home on the farm in Eldon Township, rural Minnewaukan. In 1948, Lorena moved to Devils Lake where she lived, worked and raised her family through the years. She worked for a number of years at the General Hospital and later managed the Convalescent Home, operated by the Good Samaritan Society, for many years. She also assisted in establishing other Good Samaritan Centers, including the home in Mayville, ND. In 1962, Lorena became the first Nursing Supervisor of the newly opened Lake Region Lutheran Home and continued there until 1975 when she retired. After she retired, Lorena found joy and happiness in helping to care for her three grandsons.
Lorena dedicated her life to caring for her family and in service to those who needed her love and care the most.
She was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church and the WELCA and also the North Dakota Nurses Association.
Lorena is survived by her son, Alban Nordrum of Devils Lake

Several Nieces and Nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Roger Nordrum on December 14, 2004; sisters, Adeline Jacobson and Beatrice Ericksmoen and brother, Wallace Olson.
