Barry Stewart, 59, a long-time Southam businessman died early Saturday morning, October 7, 2006 at MeritCare Hospital in Fargo. Funeral Services for Barry will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Devils Lake. Rev. Jamie Desai will officiate and burial will be in the Devils Lake Cemetery. Military Honors will be accorded by the Neathery-Simensen Post #756, Devils Lake Veterans of Foreign Wars. Visitation will be held on Friday at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. with the family present from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 6:00 p.m. with Pastor Don Reynolds officiating. Visitation on Saturday will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral service. Music will be provided by Patty Cote. Serving as Casket Bearers for Barry will be Thomas LaBarre, Jim Stewart, Scott Anderson, Scott Langton, Ray Schwan, Harley Eidsness, Roger Perkuhn and Ray Erickson. Barry was born in Devils Lake ND on Feb 25, 1947, son to William “Bill” and Maxine “Mick” (Oliver) Stewart. He was raised in Southam ND and attended school in Lakota ND through graduation. After high school Barry traveled the west coast for a few years before being drafted into the US Army. Barry served in the 101st Airborne Infantry Division as a paratrooper during the war in Vietnam. After his tour of duty he came back to Southam to work at the family Elevator business. He met and married Priscilla Kautz on May 27, 1972 in Devils Lake. She worked as a teacher as they raised two boys, Brandon and Brock. Priscilla died on July 11, 1992. Barry married Sandy Mongeon in 1994 in Fargo. Barry was a member of the VFW and the Elks Lodge. Barry loved to skydive and also loved toys, big and small from snowmobiles and jet skis to model railroad. Barry was a kid at heart and loved children as much as his toys. Preceeded in death by his parents; wife, Priscilla; an infant daughter; grandson Brodyn and father-in-law, Eugene Kautz Survived by: Sons; Brandon and his wife, Melissa and their children, Danielle & Kristina of Hawley MN Brock and his wife, Trixie and their daughter, Addie of Fargo Mother: Shirley Stewart of Southam Brother: Bruce Stewart also of Southam Nephew: Preston Stewart Mother-In-Law: Loraine Kautz of Devils Lake Many dear friends and other relatives also survive.
