David A. Crouch, 79 of Devils Lake, ND formerly of Mitchell, South Dakota died on Monday, October 4, 2010 at the Good Samaritan Center, Devils Lake.
Funeral Services for David will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Thursday, October 7, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. Rev. Rafe Allison will officiate and Military Honors will be provided by the Neathery-Simensen Post #756, Devils Lake Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Services will be held at the Will Funeral Chapel in Mitchell, South Dakota on Saturday, October 9, 2010 at 11:00 a.m with Rev. Lyndell Howard officiating. Burial will be in the American Legion Servicemen’s Memorial Cemetery, Mitchell, South Dakota. Military Honors will be accorded by the South Dakota National Guard, American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Serving as Pallbearers for David will be Robert Fuglesten, Michael Schwab, Gary Remmen, Edward Johnson, Bryan Freidel and LeRoy Kayser.
Honorary Bearers will be Gary Jerrigan, Marvin Newgaard, Kirk Britsch, Billy Shoppert and all of David’s Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren.
Music will be provided by Sherry Kurtz and JoDee Lagein.
David Crouch was born on August 7,1931 in Mitchell, South Dakota, the son of Bryl and Clara (Hosmer) Crouch. David was raised in Mitchell and graduated from Mitchell High School, class of 1947. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1948. He served his country during the Korean War and was honorably discharged on September 11, 1953 with the rank of EMP 3rd Class.
After his discharge, David returned to Mitchell and worked for Northwestern Public Service.
David was united in marriage to Agnes “Toots” Kayser on November 12, 1955 in Worthington, Minnesota. They established their home in Mitchell, raising their family there for eighteen years until 1971 when they moved to Devils Lake, ND. David then worked for Western Area Power until his retirement in 1989.
David was a member of the 40&8, American Legion, VFW and the Eagle Aries 2614.
David enjoyed playing cards, holiday gatherings and shooting the breeze with his many friends.
David is survived by his loving family: his children Patrick Crouch of Noble, Oklahoma, Susan and her husband Michael Schwab of Maple Grove, Minnesota, Michael Crouch and his wife Lora of Belle Fourche, South Dakota, Tammy and her husband Gary Remmen of Devils Lake, Allan Crouch of Mesa, Arizona, Lorna and her husband Robert Fuglesten of Fergus Falls, Minnesota and Mollie and her husband Edward Johnson also of Devils Lake; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; sisters Ruth Smith of Mitchell, SD and Elaine Larsen of Sioux Falls, SD.
David was preceded in death by his parents; wife Agnes on September 20, 1990; son Dennis James Crouch; brother Robert Crouch and sister Niomi Baaringar.
Memorials may be directed to the Good Samaritan Center Foundation in Devils Lake or the Faith Bible School in Mitchell, South Dakota.
