Lawrence Littleghost Sr., “Oidewicaye” (Set Fire on Them) 79 of St.Michael, ND died on Thursday, December 2, 2010 at Heartland Care Center of Devils Lake. A Wake and Prayer Service will be held at St. Michael’s Recreation Center, St. Michael, ND on Tuesday, December 7, 2010 beginning at 5:00 p.m. with a Rosary, Prayer Service and Traditional Service at 8:00 p.m. The procession to St. Michael will leave at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday from Wal-Mart. The Funeral Service for Lawrence will be held on Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church with burial in St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery. Military Honors will be accorded by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #6547. A Mass for the repose of the soul of Lawrence Littleghost will be held on Wednesday, December 8th at 7:00 a.m. at the church. Casket Bearers for Lawrence will be Ray Peltier Sr., Craig Littleghost, Terrance Littleghost~Mark Littleghost, Richard Littleghost, Byron Littleghost, Michael Tollefson, Reno Littleghost and Travis Littleghost. Honorary Bearers for Lawrence will be Elmer Brown, Aloysius Cloud, Oliver Gourd, Josie Lawrence, Danny Seaboy, David Seaboy, Dayton Seaboy, Lorraine Greybear, Hermenia McKay, Steven McKay, Katherine Court, Darlene Wadsworth, Onna Littleghost, Terry Morgan, Elton Greywater, Esther Abraham, James Thompson, Ambrose “Buddy” Longie, Philip “Skip” Longie, John and Mona Chaske, Blueshield Family, Herald Family and the Littleghost Nation. Lawrence was born on January 21, 1931 at home in St. Michael, ND the son of James and Mary Agnes (Feather) Littleghost. Lawrence entered the United States Army in 1948 at the age of 17. He served his country and was honorably discharged in 1951. Lawrence was united in marriage to Geraldine Young in 1950. To this marriage were born five children, Lawrence Jr., Wanda, Luann, Noreen and Jeaneen. His second marriage brought two more children into his life, Karen and Loren. Lawrence worked in many places all over the country including Brunswick Company and Sioux Manufacturing for over 21 years and also a driver for Head Start all at Fort Totten and then he drove for the Elderly Meals Program in St. Michael. Lawrence had many pastimes he enjoyed. He attended Sundance Gatherings, Sweats with the family, Peyote Meetings and Church whenever he could. In his younger years Lawrence enjoyed hunting and lawn work. Lawrence took great pride in keeping his yard and his house neat, clean and in order. But when the work was done, he loved to visit with his dear family and many friends. We were truly blessed to have Lawrence in our lives for these many years and we pray for God’s love and mercy as we return our beloved Lawrence back to his eternal home. Lawrence is survived by his children, Lawrence Littleghost Jr., Noreen Littleghost, Jeaneen Littleghost, Karen Littleghost and Loren Littleghost; sisters and brother, Arlean Littleghost, Maxine “LaVerne” Peltier and Leroy Littleghost; thirty-two grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Those who preceded Lawrence to the Spirit World are his parents, James and Agnes; wife, Geraldine; children, Wanda Gonzales and Luann Murray; brothers and sisters, Melinda LittleGhost Thompson, Frances LittleGhost, Eugene LittleGhost, Jordan LittleGhost, James LittleGhost Jr., William Littleghost, William Ambrose Littleghost, Mary Jane Yankton, Violet Blueshield, Rose Dubois and Ephraim Hill; grandparents, Theresa Iron Lightning, George Littleghost, Chief Black Eagle, Makudutawin and HeInkpaduta.
