Kristy Ellen was born on October 25, 1959 at Stanley, ND the loving daughter of Elmer and Julia (Berg) Moe. She was raised on a farm in White Earth Valley along the Missouri River. She attended a country school in the White Earth area through 8th grade and then graduated from Tioga High School with the class of 1978.
Kristy was united in marriage to Douglas Lawson on June 16, 1978 in Tioga. They established their home there where they lived, worked and raised their boys. When the boys were all in school, Kristy worked as a waitress at the local restaurants and later owned and operated her own consignment store in Tioga.
In 1996, the family moved to Devils Lake. Again, Kristy’s boys came first and foremost, but as they became more independent Kristy worked as a courier for a National Banking System. She also worked at the Super 8 on a part-time basis. Kristy also offered her time to the community of Devils Lake in many ways and for the past several years, she organized the area Farmers Market.
Kristy had many talents and hobbies. She loved to bake and she came to be known as the “cheesecake lady” to many as she shared her delicious goodies with family and friends. Kristy was no stranger to the area flea markets, craft shows, rummage and auction sales. She did collect antique glassware, but for Kristy just having a chance to visit with everyone and anyone was the most enjoyable part of the day.
Kristy was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her “boys” were her pride and joy and what a special day it was when a precious granddaughter was born. The love of Doug’s life, the best “Mom” in the world, the most wonderful sister and aunt will be forever loved and forever in our hearts.
