SHIRLEY ANN LAVERDURE

Shirley Ann Laverdure, 67 of Minnewaukan formerly of Harvey, ND died on Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at Elim Care Center, Fargo, ND. Mass of Christian Burial for Shirley will be on Saturday, October 2, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Devils Lake, ND with Fr. Dale Kinzler celebrating the Mass. Visitation will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Friday from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary and Scripture Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation on Saturday will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral Mass. Graveside Services for Shirley will be held at St. James Catholic Cemetery, Minnewaukan, ND on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. Serving as Casket Bearers for Shirley will be Mark Job, Aaron Longie, Brad Hager, Jake Hager, Stuart Johnson and Dennis Huffman. Honorary Bearers are Mike Frost and Donald Frost. Shirley Ann was born on June 21, 1943 at Harvey, ND the loving daughter of John and Mary (Reiter) Kesler. She received her elementary education at St. Cecelia’s School and then attended Harvey High School. Shirley was united in marriage to Eugene Laverdure on April 19, 1960. They established their home in Harvey until 1967 when they moved to Minnewaukan. Shirley worked for a time at North Central Planning and Leever’s. For over 25 years, Shirley was a dedicated employee of Benson County Social Services, retiring in 2008. Shirley was first and foremost a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved family gatherings, cooking for her family and she absolutely adored her grandchildren. She was an avid crafter and enjoyed bird watching. Shirley was loved by all who knew her and will be forever in our hearts. Shirley’s loving family; her husband of 50 years, Eugene; children Jeanine and her husband Joe Martin of Fargo,ND, Todd Laverdure and his wife Shelly of Minnewaukan, Annette Diehl of Devils Lake, Margo Armentrout also of Fargo, Madge and her husband Ron Selensky of Harvey and Darin Laverdure and his wife Kelly of Kindred; grandkids Jessie Robinson, Dennis Huffman, Dustin Laverdure, Rhiannon Johnson, Justyn Armentrout, Robbie Diehl, Zachery Laverdure and Ashton Laverdure; great grandchild, Aria Robinson; brother Wendelin Kesler and his wife Mona of Redding, California; sister Linda and her husband Don Frost of Harvey; many cousins, nieces, nephews and their families also survive. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; daughter Doreen Johnson; mother-in-law Florence Farrell; brothers Emil, Leo, Ed, Roy, Clarence, Jim and John Kesler; sisters Susie Conrad and Lena McDonald.
