Robert Bernard Swobodzinski was born on December 3, 1958 at Inglewood, California the son of Robert and Donna Mae (Paul) Swobodzinski Sr. He was reared and educated in southern California. Bob spent most of his life on the road as an over-the-road long distance trucker. Most recently he worked for Close Construction in the Devils Lake area.
In the late 1990’s, Bob moved to Starkweather, ND to care for his grandmother and after her death he continued to make Starkweather his home. Bob was united in marriage to Laurie Miller in 2003.
Bob didn’t have time for many hobbies, but at home or on the road he enjoyed the many activities of the internet and also sitting back, relaxing and watching TV. Bob never met a stranger, met many different and interesting people where ever he went and called them all friends. But as Bob’s friend, you had to expect him to give you a “hard time” about everything and anything. That was Bob.
Bob is survived by his wife, Laurie; step children Jason Jacobs, Jessica Jacobs, James Jacobs, David Jacobs, Katie Maki, Becky Olson and Michelle Tervina; grandchildren Arienna Jacobs, Jenna Jacobs, Austin Jacobs, Alex Martin and Zachary Martin; sisters Laura McCann of Fountain Hills, Arizona, Pam Kennedy and Kim Swobodzinski of California ; niece Natalie Alvarez and special aunt Nola Gould of Santa Anna, California.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; brother James “Jimbo” Swobodzinski and step father James Forkner.
