GORDON DUANE EVANS

Gordon D. Evans, 57 of Starkweather, ND died as a result of a farm accident on Tuesday, December 22, 2009 in rural Starkweather. Funeral Services for Gordon will be held on Sunday, December 27, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. at Trinity-Bergen Lutheran Church, Starkweather, ND. Rev. Robert Buechler will officiate and burial will be in the Trinity-Bergen Lutheran Cemetery in the spring. Visitation will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service and Time of Remembrance at 5:00 p.m. Visitation on Sunday will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral service. Serving as Casket Bearers for Gordon will be Jon Unger, Kim Burt, Tim Anderson, Chris Berg, Jim Berg and Roger Lindenberg. Music will be provided by Maureen Bertsch, soloist and Carol Sue Pederson, organist. Gordon Duane, the loving son of Floyd and Lorraine (Lindenberg) Evans was born on May 3, 1952 at Bremerton, Washington. At a young age he moved with the family to the Lake Region area and attended elementary school in Devils Lake and his high school years in Bisbee, ND. Gordon spent most of his adult life working for several area farmers including, Kenny Weaver, Tim Anderson, Frank Peyerl and for the past eleven plus years at the Jim and Elizabeth Berg Farm. Gordon was united in marriage to Diane Uhlenkamp on August 19, 1972 at Starkweather. They lived for a short time in Lansford, Rolla and rural Hampden, ND and in 1978 moved to Starkweather where they lived and raised their family through the years. Gordon’s passion was farming. He loved the land, the soil and the change each season would bring to the farm. He loved his family in the same way; holding and caring for this children and grandchildren when they were small and watching them grow into young adults and parents, changes in their seasons of life and being so proud of them and their accomplishments. Gordon, loving and devoted husband, Dad and Grandpa and a honest and hard working man always doing his very best to provide for his family. Gordon leaves behind his loving wife of 37 years, Diane; his children, Delinda Evans and her fiancé, Jim Geisen of Starkweather, Diana Van Raden and her husband, Troy of Fargo and Duane Evans also of Fargo; nine grandchildren, Justin Kempel, McKenzie Kempel, Alyssa Kempel, Taylor Kempel, Matthew Evans, Khloe Geisen and Kyleigh Giesen and Hunter Van Raden and Savanna Van Raden; his mother, Lorraine Evans of Cando; sisters, Shirley (Frank) Peyerl also of Cando, Barbara Stanley of Baker City, Oregon and Lorrie Bulmer of Grand Forks, ND; mother-in-law, Ethel Uhlenkamp of Starkweather; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, John (Sherry) Uhlenkamp of Rugby, ND,Dan Uhlenkamp of Mayville, ND and Marla (Kevin) Jundt of Nielsville, Minnesota; Many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins also survive. Gordon was preceded in death by his father, Floyd; grandparents, Art and Myrtle Evans and Emil and Lillian Lindenberg and father-in-law, Ray Uhlenkamp;
