Sylvia M. Mongeon, 88 of Rolette, ND died peacefully on May 16, 2006 at Presentation Care Center, Rolette after having led a happy and fulfilling life.
Mass of Christian Burial for Sylvia will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Rolette. Fr. Tom Graner will celebrate the Mass and burial will be in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, rural Rolette. Following services at the graveside, the family invites family and friends to the church dining hall for lunch and fellowship and to share their fond memories of Sylvia.
Visitation will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m.
Serving as Casket Bearers for Sylvia will be her grandsons, Darin Mongeon, Paul Mongeon, Zach McCall, Jake McCall, Brian Hare and Mark Hare.

Sylvia was born June 8, l917, in Belcourt, ND to Sylvio and Blanche (Choiniere) LaDouceur. After her father died in 1919, Sylvia and her brothers, Victor and Leo, were raised by their mother. Sylvia attended school at Notre Dame Academy in Willow City, ND, and graduated salutatorian in 1935.
During World War II Sylvia worked in California at a ceramic factory. Following the war she met and married Adrien Mongeon on October 25, 1947, in Minneapolis, MN. They farmed north of Rolette for 37 years. In 1984, they retired and moved to Rolette. While retired they spent many fun-filled winters in Mesa, AZ, with many dear friends and family.
Sylvia will be remembered for her exceptional cooking skills, hospitality, and generosity. She regularly shared her famous homemade bread with the elderly and homebound in the Rolette and Thorne communities.
Sylvia is survived by her husband, Adrien Mongeon, of Rolette, ND; children, Ron (Nancy) Mongeon, Lincoln, NE; Janel(Dennis) McCall, Helena, MT; Susan (Dan) Hare, Bismarck, ND; Jim (Beth) Mongeon, Rolette, ND; 14 grandchildren, Darin (Paige), Paul (Traci), Greg (Rachel), Steve Mongeon; Zach, Jake (Ashley), Josh, Zeb McCall; Brian, Jill, Mark Hare; and Jessica, Rebecca, and Joe Mongeon; 5 great-grandchildren, Sierra and Lane Mongeon, Jarrett and Josie Mongeon, and Adrienne Mongeon; and numerous dearly loved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Leo and Victor LaDouceur.
