Palmer L. “Pinky” Finneseth, 79 of Munich, ND died on Sunday morning, June 18, 2006 at Heartland Care Center, Devils Lake.
Mass of Christian Burial for Palmer will be on Wednesday, June 21, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Munich. Fr. Tony Hession will celebrate the Mass and burial will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, rural Munich. Military Honors will be accorded by the Brumwell-Grey American Legion Post #276 of Sarles.
Visitation will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake, ND on Tuesday, June 20, 2006 from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary and Vigil Service at 7:30 p.m. The Rosary will be led by the Knights of Columbus. Visitation on Wednesday will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Church beginning at 9:00 a.m.
Pallbearers for Pinky will be his nephews, Todd Finneseth, Jeff Finneseth, Dean Morley, Howard Morley, Herbert Morley, Bill Rott, Dr. Allan Rott, Jim Wills, Joe Kitsch, Bruce Kitsch and Nick Kitsch.
Music will be provided by the St. Mary’s Choir with Jane Wirth, Organist.
Palmer L. Finneseth was born on August 17, 1926 to Adolph and Gertrude (Worms) Finneseth in Calio, ND. He was reared and educated in the Munich area and attended Munich Public School. He worked for area farmers before he entered the US Army, on December 12, 1944, serving his country during World War II in the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre and Japan. After his honorable discharge on November 17, 1946 he returned to Munich and worked for Cavalier County on road maintenance from 1946 until he retired in August of 1988.
After retirement, he worked for his brother, John on his Poultry Farm. He also pursued his hobby of collecting copper. He was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, American Legion and VFW and also the Knights of Columbus.
Palmer is survived by his brothers, Robert “Bob” Finneseth, Grand Forks
Ted Finneseth and his wife, Marilyn, Northfield, Minnesota
John Finneseth of Munich
Sisters: Jean Wills, Detroit Lake, MN
Shirley Kitsch and her husband, Jim of Webster, ND
Brother-In-Law: Darwin Rott of Bismarck
Many Nieces and Nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Lorraine Morley and Marian Rott and brothers-in-law, Harold Morley and Jim Wills
