Alvin “Baby” spent his early years at Little Flower Mission School in St. Michael, Four Winds, Warwick and Job Corps in Minot. After finishing school, he made his home in Devils Lake. Alvin “Baby” had a strong work ethic, working a variety of different occupations. He worked at Spirit Lake Casino, Mr. and Mrs. J’s, Old Main, Trials West, D.T.I., Leever’s and numerous other places in the Lake Region. Alvin’s favorite past times included spending time with family and friends, kicking back and watching movies, spending time in the Native American Church, riding bike, going for walks, fishing, hunting, playing basketball and football, picking Juneberries and sage, playing horse shoes, cards and dice. Baby was very artistic and loved to make Native American Instruments, beadwork, making dressers, God’s Eyes, key chains and pens. He also enjoyed working on cars. Alvin had a very special bond with his two very beautiful children, Alvin Jr. and Talayah. He loved spending time with them and they had a very special relationship. Such beautiful songs he sang as well as a being a good drummer and he ran one meeting. Alvin “Baby” was a very special Dad, brother, son, uncle and friend. He was a very giving person, very helpful; if he could help in any way he would do his very best. If he had it, he would give it. He was so kind and caring, he loved people, his family and children, he loved making people laugh. He would lift family and friends spirits up with his songs and the things he would say. We will miss him very much, God only takes the best. We want to thank everyone that helped us out through this tragic time. God bless you all.
