Louise Helten
Schuler, 94, died at the Hospice of the Valley in Mesa, Arizona on
Sunday, August 27. A rosary service will be held at Melchor Mortuary
from 6 to 8 pm Tuesday, August 29, and the funeral will be held at All
Saints Catholic Church on Wednesday, August 30 in Mesa. Interment will
be in the family plot in the St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery near Calio,
North Dakota, following a graveside service there at 11 am on Saturday,
September 2.
Louise was born September 9, 1911 at Calio to Cavalier County pioneers
John and Mary Mueller Helten. Her family moved to Munich where Louise
graduated from high school and where she married her husband, Othmar
Schuler, on September 29, 1934. Long-time residents of Munich, the
couple purchased a second home in Mesa in 1970, where they spent their
winters and where Louise, in later years, became a full-time resident.
Othmar died in 1982. Louise's parents and 12 siblings also preceded her
in death.
Louise is survived by her daughter, Carol Valenta (Don) of Santa Ana,
CA, daughter Janet Dyer (Leonard) of Anthem, AZ, daughter Elaine Schuler
of Santa Rosa, CA, son Ken Schuler (Marcie) of Gilbert, AZ, son Chuck
Schuler of Phoenix, AZ, and 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren
