Olive Lorriane Munson was born on June 22, 1940, the daughter of John and Victoria (Rondeau) Munson at Devils Lake, ND where she would live most of her life. She was raised by her loving mother and dear step father, Arnold Anderson. She attended St. Michael’s Mission School at St. Michael, ND.
Olive was united in marriage to Melvin “Doug” Asleson on March 14, 1959 at Devils Lake. They spent most of the married life living, working and raising their family in Devils Lake. Olive worked for many years as a nursing assistant at the Good Samaritan Center and Heartland Care Center, caring for the elderly, until her own health problems forced her to retire.
This loving, caring, nurturing spirit of Olive was made visible in her work and in caring for her grandchildren. She had the priviledge of being able to spoil them, but yet being a good listener who didn’t hesitate to give the right advice even though it might be difficult to hear.
She always looked forward to a fun time with family and friends at Bingo or the Casino.
It was often said, “How can someone with a nickname of “Tiny” have such a big heart and touch so many lives in such a special way”. We have lost someone very special. May she rest in God’s peace.
