Matthew Lane Wood

Matthew L. Wood, 16 of rural Warwick, ND died Tuesday, September 19, 2006 at his home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, September 22, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Devils Lake. Fr. Robert Pecotte will celebrate the Mass and burial will be in the Crary Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a Scripture Service at 7:00 p.m. and on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon. Serving as Casket Bearers for Matthew will be his cousins, R.J. Bischoff, Levi Bischoff, Travis Gilbert, Justin Gilbert, Allan Wood and Brian Wood. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be All of Matthew’s Many, Many Friends and members of the Junior Class of JROTC of Devils Lake High School. Reading the Scriptures will be Evan Wood and Joe Gilbert. Gift Bearers will be Classmates and Friends, Chris Benson, Brian Eback, and Philip Cervinski. Music will be provided by Margaret Wood, Richard Neukom and Patty Cote. Matthew Lane Wood, son of William “Bill” and Valerie (Gilbert) Wood was born on his parents’ ninth Wedding Anniversary, June 20, 1990 at Devils Lake, ND. He lived and worked on the family owned East Bay Campground and the farm. He attended Prairie View Elementary School, Central Middle School and was presently a junior at Devils Lake High School. He was very active in sports including wrestling, track and was a safety and wide receiver for the Firebirds Football Team. He was a member of the Devils Lake High School Orchestra and the Community Orchestra where he played the viola and also a member of the JROTC. Matthew was active in school and out of school. He loved riding the golf cart around the campgrounds and keeping up with the happenings of the day. He enjoyed playing video games and war games and was a member of the Raiders Squad of the JROTC and attended the Raider camp this summer. He also had attended the International Music Camp for several summers. That bright smile, mischievous grin and those sparkling eyes will be forever in our hearts. Matthew will be forever loved and forever missed by all of his family and friends.
