Dorothy Mary Pederson

Dorothy M. Pederson, 91 a longtime resident of Devils Lake passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family and friends on Thursday evening, July 29, 2010 at Heartland Care Center, Devils Lake, ND. Mass of Christian Burial for Dorothy will be held on Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Devils Lake, ND. Fr. Dale Kinzler will celebrate the Mass and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Grand Forks, ND at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Visitation will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Wednesday beginning at 9:00 a.m. until time of service. Dorothy Mary was born on August 6, 1918 at Grand Forks, ND the loving daughter of George H. and Marie Grace (Hamel) Saumur. She was reared and educated in Grand Forks, graduating from the Academy of St. James. After graduating, Dorothy attended Aaker’s Business College. Dorothy was married to Earl K. Pederson on March 1, 1941. They established their home in Devils Lake and Dorothy would make this her home through the years. Dorothy was employed by Kurtz Construction for over 40 years. Dorothy is survived by her son John Pederson and his wife Rose of Chanhassen, Minnesota; grandson Zachary Pederson and his wife Jenni of Lake Williams, MN and granddaughter Hilary Pederson of St. Paul, MN; brother William Saumur of Mayville, ND; sisters Sr. Grace Saumur CSJ of St. Paul, Patricia (Omer) Larson, Grand Forks and Adrienne (Gene) Paulson of Rhinelander, WI; many nieces, nephews and their families also survive.
