Bonnie J. Hensey, 82, of Devils Lake, ND formerly of Lakota, ND died on Tuesday, June 13, 2006 at her home. Mass of Christian Burial for Bonnie will be held on Friday, June 16, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Devils Lake. Fr. C.F. Wilhelm and Fr. Scott Sautner will celebrate the Mass and burial will be in the Lakota Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary and Scripture Service at 7:00 p.m. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be Lynn Schroeder, Don Sloan, Clifford “Shine” Zimmer, John Burke, Maurice Barton, Vern “Red” Beauchane, Austin Bakke, Cody Smith, Keith Kurtz, Chaun Foughty, Don Axtman, Tom Culmer and Tom Burckhard. Reading the Scriptures will be Steven Hensey Gift Bearers will be Steven, Sharon, Jamie, Cody, Ethan and Sherry Music will be provided by Joyful Noise, Oasis, Donovan Foughty, Jean Aardahl and Jamie Hensey Smith. Altar Servers for the Mass will be Jacob Clouse, Courtney Armstrong, Aiden Alfonso, Owen Alfonso and Seth McKelvey. Bonnie Jean Mahoney was born on August 18, 1923 in Devils Lake, ND the daughter of John and Loretta (LeDuc) Mahoney. She attended the Illinois Township #2 Country School in Nelson County and graduated from Lakota High School in 1941. She then attended the Agricultural School in Fargo and UND, Grand Forks for 3 years. She worked as a secretary in Seattle, Washington in the ship yards and also as a secretary at the Bank of America in Los Angeles, California. On March 3, 1946 Bonnie was united in marriage to Kenneth W. Hensey in San Francisco. They returned to North Dakota and made their home in Lakota where they farmed and raised their family. In 1975 they moved to Devils Lake. Bonnie enjoyed playing bridge and other card games and was an avid reader. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and will be deeply missed by those who shared in her life. Bonnie was a woman of deep faith and devotion and lovingly shared that faith with her family. She was a former member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lakota and was now a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She was also a member of the Tri Delta Sorority. Bonnie is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Kenneth Daughter; Sherry Kurtz, Devils Lake Son: Steven Hensey and his wife, Sharon of Lakota Granddaughter: Jamie Smith and her husband, Cody of Fargo, ND Great Grandson: Ethan Kenneth Smith Brother: Dr. Jack Mahoney of Pretoria, South Africa Several nieces and nephews, especially Kathryn “Kitty” Carlos of Selinas, California She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Myra Kabeary.
