Donna Mae Hanenberg was born in Valley City, ND on January 19, 1946, the daughter of Jacob and Adeline (Schwehr) Hanenberg. She was raised and educated in Sanborn, ND, graduating from Sanborn High School in the class of 1964. Donna was united in marriage to Kenneth A. Larson on August 5, 1967 at Valley City. They established their home in Valley City for a time and in 1971 moved to Devils Lake. Donna devoted her life to caring for her husband and two daughters and making a home of love and happiness. While living in Devils Lake she also operated a day care service from her home. In 1991, Ken and Donna moved to rural Doyon, where they have made their home through the years. Donna started working at K-Mart in 1992 and spent nine years as a part of the K-Mart family, retiring in 2001. She also was an Avon Dealer for many years.
Donna was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church and also of St. Olaf Faith and Care. She was also active in the Bowling Leagues for many years.
Donna had many hobbies and pastimes including gardening and yard work, sewing anything and everything from quilts, Christmas tree skirts, clothing, bridesmaid dresses and even the ties and cummerbunds for the groomsmen. She loved to go camping, and made a camping trip to the Peace Gardens an annual event. The best 4th of July celebrations were those in her hometown of Sanborn and she made every effort to be there on an annual basis too. Dancing, Country Music and her canine companions always made the day just a little brighter for Donna
Donna was the “handyman” of the Larson household and could fix and do most anything that needed to be done. She was also “Mom” to not only her children but to many of their friends.
Anything Donna did reflected love, caring and kindness from her work at K-Mart to her sewing to her just being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and dear friend and neighbor. Donna will be forever loved and so very missed by all.
