Daniel Wade was born in Devils Lake, ND on December 4, 1963 to William and Mary (Littleghost) Herald. He attended school in St. Michael. Daniel spent most of his life on the Spirit Lake Nation working for a time at Dakota Tribal Industries, Sioux Manufacturing Company, on various construction jobs, including the construction of the Spirit Lake Casino Hotel. He also was a fire fighter with the Spirit Lake Fire Department and most recently had worked at the Spirit Lake Casino and Resort. Daniel had a very adventurous spirit and loved to travel around the country. His good nature, sense of humor and his ability to tell a good story endeared him to everyone he met in his travels. He loved to tease and joke with his family and saved his best stories for them. He loved to listen to music and try some new dance steps to his favorite songs. He enjoyed the outdoors, riding bike, going for walks and spending some indoor time at the Casino. Daniel had a soft spot for animals, especially cats. Daniel was always young at heart and he loved sharing that “young at heart spirit” with his children and grandchildren. Those times were always the most precious to Daniel. We will keep his smiling face, his wonderful stories in our hearts and memories forever.
