Our Dad had so many friends he made through the years. If we haven’t mentioned you, please know you were not forgotten.
Robert Henry was born on November 25, 1947 at Fort Totten, ND the son of Percy and Elizabeth (TwoHearts) Cavanaugh. He was raised in the Devils Lake and Fort Totten area, attending school in St. Michael and Maddock, ND and also served in the United States Army. In his younger years, Hank enjoyed traveling and did so to many places. He then returned to North Dakota and made this his home for the rest of his life. For several years he worked in the Devils Lake area as a handyman. Hank then began a long career working for the Spirit Lake Tribe. He worked for Tribal Court, Senior Meals at Fort Totten, Sioux Manufacturing Corporation and most recently as a Shuttle Driver for Spirit Lake Casino and Resort.
Hank had a passion for collecting and repairing and working on cars. However, Monday through Friday at 9:00 a.m. without a doubt, you would also know that Hank would always be found next to a radio, listening to TRADIO. These two passions worked well together for Hank whenever he was looking for cars or car parts, etc. Hank was an animal lover too, and had many special canine friends through the years.
Spending time with his dear family and many friends was a priority to Hank and a his grandchildren always had a special place in his hearts. But if you were friend or family to Hank, you knew you would be given a nickname. Hank gave a nickname to every friend he made and he will truly be missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Hank is survived by his sons, Trent Anderson, Robby Cavanaugh, Reggie Cavanaugh Sr. and Ryan Cavanaugh all of Fort Totten.
