Dorothy I. Hiltner, 93 of Devils Lake formerly of the Dresdon/Langdon area died on Wednesday, November 14, 2007 at the Heartland Care Center with loving family at her side.
Mass of Christian Burial for Dorothy will be held on Wednesday, November 21, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Devils Lake. Fr. Dale Kinzler will celebrate the Mass with graveside services on Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at Mount Carmel Catholic Cemetery, Mount Carmel, ND.
Visitation will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home Chapel, Devils Lake on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary and Scripture Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation on Wednesday will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral Mass.
Serving as Casket Bearers for Dorothy will be Jared Hiltner, Tyler Hiltner, Kelsie Hiltner, Libby Hiltner, Quinn Hiltner, Todd Gratton, Tim Gratton, Kyle Gratton, Chance Gratton, Leon Hiltner and Alvin Imholt.
Honorary Bearers will be the Staff of the Heartland Care Center
Reading the Scriptures will be Michael J. Hiltner
Gift Bearers will be Margaret and Kenneth Gratton

Dorothy Isabelle, the daughter of Herman L. and Hilda M. (Paulson) Koch was born on November 7, 1914 in Sylvan Township, Richland County, Wisconsin. She was reared in Sylvan Township and educated in the Sylvan School. She worked as a Home Care Attendent for several years. It was while she was working in Freeport, Minnesota that she met Michael Hiltner. Michael and Dorothy were united in marriage on August 13, 1947 in Langdon, ND. They established their home in rural Dresden where they lived, worked and raised their family. In July of 1999 they moved to Devils Lake. Michael died on March 2, 2005. Dorothy has been a resident of the Heartland Care Center since 2004.
Dorothy was a former member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church of Dresden, St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Langdon and St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Wales. Since moving to Devils Lake she has been a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Dorothy was an excellent seamstress and made many clothes for her family and friends. She was an avid reader and would even read the encyclopedia if available. She enjoyed gardening, especially her flower garden and loved to entertain family and friends with good food, good times and good company. Above all, Dorothy was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and will be so missed by those her loved and cherished her.

Michael J. Hiltner and his wife, Laurie of Kyle, Kansas
Grandchildren: Jared (Seanna) Hiltner, Tyler Hiltner, Kelsie Hiltner, Libby Hiltner, Quinn Hiltner, Todd Gratton, Tim (fiancé, Jamie) Gratton and Kyle Gratton.
Great Grandchildren: Chance Gratton, Hadley Hiltner, Kerstyn Hiltner and Audric Hiltner.
Sisters: M. Beatrice Zimpel of Richland Center, Wisconsin
Gretchen L. (John) Smith of Madison, Wisconsin
Many nieces, nephews and their families also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Michael; grandson, Troy Gratton and infant great grandson, Lanny Hiltner
