Thora Foss, 94 of Rolette, ND died on Saturday afternoon, July 14, 2007 at Presentation Medical Center, Rolla, ND.
Funeral Services for Thora will be held on Tuesday, July 17, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at Willow Creek Lutheran Church, Overly, ND. Rev. John Hesford will officiate and burial will be in the Overly Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at Willow Creek Lutheran Church on Monday from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation on Tuesday will be held one hour prior to the funeral service.
Serving as Casket Bearers for Thora will be Rodney Foss, Bruce Foss, Gordon Foss, Allen Johnson, Monte Bown and David Armstrong
Music will be Congregational Hymns with Margaret Wittmayer as organist.
Thora K. Lien was born on September 23, 1912 in South Valley Township, Rolette County to Chris and Ingeborg (Holen) Lien. She was raised on the family farm near Willow City, ND. She graduated from Willow City High School in 1931 and later began working at the Rugby Hospital. On October 30, 1943, Thora was united in marriage to Grant Foss at Mankato, Minnesota. They established their home on the farm in Kohlmeier Township, rural Overly where Thora worked along side her husband through the years. She later worked at the Rolette Hospital as a nurses’ aide and then in the Medical Records Department for over 20 years. After they retired, they moved to Rolette. Grant died on June 13, 1994. Thora continued to make her home in Rolette until March of 2002 when she moved to the Haaland Home in Rugby. In May of 2004, Thora moved to the Rolette Care Center where she made her home at the time of her death.
Thora was a member of Willow Creek Lutheran Church and WELCA, Eastern Star and Willow Creek Homemakers. When her children were younger, she was active in 4-H also.
Thora had many exceptional talents, but as a seamstress, knitter and baker she excelled. She also was very involved in her granddaughters many school and community activities-she was their “greatest fan”.

Step Grandchildren: Jill Bickler, Carl Schaan and Rich Schaan
Step Great Grandchildren: Rebecca and Aaron Bickler
Sister: Pearl Johnson of Rolette
Brother-In-Law and Sisters-In-Law: Wilma Arstein and Edna Foss both of Rugby
Art (Lenore) Foss and Mabel Armstrong all of Rolette
Several nieces and nephews and their families also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Grant; brother, Reidar Lien.
