Charles J. Robertson, 67 of Devils Lake formerly of Cando and Churchs Ferry, ND died on Thursday, October 18, 2007 at Altru Hospital with his loving family at his side. Funeral Services for Charles will be held on Tuesday, October 23, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Churchs Ferry. Dr. Richard Budd will officiate and burial will be in the Churchs Ferry Cemetery. Military Honors will be accorded by the Neathery-Simensen Post #756, Devils Lake Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Lake Region Honor Guard, Camp Grafton. Visitation will be held on Monday at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake from1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Visitation on Tuesday will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral service. Serving as Casket Bearers for Charles will be Jason Pierce, Timothy Van Loo, Jason Christianson, Robert Christianson, Phil Deplazes and Don Mattern. Music will be provided by Darlene Albertson, soloist and Doris Michaels, organist Charles J. was born on the farm at rural Cando, ND on August 17, 1940, the son of John and Opal Mae (Devereaux) Robertson. He was reared and educated in the Cando area and graduated from Cando High School in the class of 1958. He entered the United States Air Force on November 7, 1958 and was trained and educated as an electrician. Much of his military service was spent in Okinawa, Japan. After his honorable discharge on August 13, 1962, Charles returned to Cando and continued working as an electrician until he retired in 2002. Charles traveled extensively around North Dakota and the United States working on various missile sites. He later worked as an electrician for several area contractors for many years. For the past two years, he worked part time for UAP (formerly Agsco). Charles was united in marriage to Carol Christianson on April 15, 1972 at Cando. They made their home in Churchs Ferry for many years, until the rising water became a concern and they moved to Devils Lake in 2000. Charles was a member of Local #1426 out of Grand Forks. Charles had a passion for motorcycles and never hesitated to take a long trip on the open road with the motorcycle as his only means of transportation. In his younger years, Charles enjoyed hunting and the great outdoors. Of course, Charles was the electrician and many times the main carpenter for many home projects and for his children’s many projects, too. We shall hold all those special memories that flood our mind in the days ahead always and forever close to our hearts. Charles is survived by his wife, Carol Children: Kevin Evenwoll and his wife, Carmella of Shevlin, Minnesota Lynelle Van Loo and her husband, Timothy of Clinton, Iowa Reyna Pierce and her husband, Jason of Devils Lake Grandchildren: Sarina Trego, Joey Trego, Tamara Evenwoll; D’Artgnan Robertson, Forrester Faul, Eris Pearl, Jamie Pierce and Lyndsey Pierce. Sisters: Nellie Orke of Bottineau, ND Hazel Peterson of Sacramento, California Trish Kroke and her husband, Neil of Trumbull, Connecticut Brother-In-Law: Robert Christianson of Leeds, ND Many nieces, nephews and their families also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, George Robertson; father-in-law and mother-in-law, George and Pearl Christianson and sister-in-law, Peggy Christianson.
