She graduated from Devils Lake High School in 1945. Ione was united in marriage to Alois (Mike) Boehmer on August 8, 1945. They established their home in Minnewaukan Township and engaged in farming until Alois’ retirement. Ione worked at the National Tea Grocery and later at Bell Drug in Devils Lake until her retirement. She was able to remain living at home until October 1 of 2007 when she was admitted to Heartland Care Center on the day of her 81st birthday. Ione was a very caring person. She spent the last years of her life (and, for those that knew Ione, her WHOLE life) caring for her husband, Alois, until his death on January 22, 2004. She enjoyed the company of her “boys”: grandson Kory, grandson Cole and great grandson Wil. She enjoyed the Friday Fellowship at St. Olaf until poor health forced her to be unable to attend. Family and neighbors were amazed by her gardening skills, her passion to create floral arrangements, and her preparation of dill pickles and raspberry jam. Ione is survived by her son Michael and his wife Sherry Boehmer of Devils Lake; Grandson Kory and his wife Colette Boehmer of Devils Lake Grandson Cole Boehmer of Devils Lake; Great Grandson Wil Boehmer of Devils Lake; Sister Betty (Thomas) Moen of Churchs Ferry; Brother-In-Law Robert Boehmer of Lakota; Sister-In-Law Ethel Boehmer of Grand Forks; Several loved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Alois; brother Wayne Rasmussen.
