Lillian T. Mudgett, “Wanbdi Sakpe Win” (Six Eagle Woman), 69 of Crowhill, rural Fort Totten, ND died on Monday, June 11 2007 at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks.
Funeral Services for Lillian will be held on Saturday, June 16, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at the Crowhill Recreation Center, rural Fort Totten, ND. Fr. Paul Ruge will officiate and burial will be in St. Jerome’s Catholic Cemetery, rural Fort Totten.
A Wake will also be at the Crowhill Recreation Center on Friday beginning at 5:00 p.m.
The procession to Crowhill Recreation Center will leave the Wal-Mart Parking Lot on Friday at 4:00 p.m.
Serving as Casket Bearers for Lillian will be Garrett Mudgett, Barrett Mudgett, Duane Mudgett Sr., Perry Mudgett Jr., Parker Mudgett, Michael Bull-Mudgett, Andrew Bull-Mudgett and Jerrid Mudgett Jr., Bobbie Sue Mudgett, Cassandra Windisch and Lola Mudgett.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Lillian’s Co-Workers at Sioux Manufacturing, Co-Workers from the Tribal Office when she served as the secretary and all of Lillian’s many friends and relatives.
Music will be provided by Spirit Lake Singers.
Lillian T. Thomas was born on February 4, 1938 at Fort Totten, ND the daughter of Michael and Rosalie (Littlewind) Thomas. She was raised and educated in the Fort Totten area, attending the BIA Elementary School and graduating from Fort Totten High School in 1957. After graduation went on a relocation program in Chicago and graduated from the Chicago School of Hair Design. Lillian married Robert Steve and to this union was born 4 children. They made their home in Chicago for 6 years, then Lillian and her family moved to the Twin Cities where she worked as a secretary for several years. Lillian was united in marriage to Allen Curtis Mudgett in St. Paul, MN and to this union was born 6 children. They made their home in St. Paul until 1971 when they moved back to the Fort Totten area where Lillian has made her home through the years. Lillian was employed as the Tribal Secretary for the Spirit Lake Nation for 4 years then worked at the Family Development Center for several years. For over 20 years, Lillian was employed at Sioux Manufacturing retiring in 2003 due to health problems.
In her teen years, she loved to dance and especially the jingle dress dance. She loved to listen to music of her native culture and was very interested in and proud of her native culture and way of life.
Lillian was a member of the Language Advisory Council of Elders of with the Dakota la unpi Program at Cankdeska Cikana Community College for the past three years.
Lillian’s kind and gentle spirit and loving heart will be forever missed by all her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Rose Thomas; daughter, Corrina Steve; brothers, Arthur and Richard Thomas; sister, Laura Thomas; grandson, Darrett Mudgett Sr.
