Elizabeth Christine was born on February 20, 1930 at Devils Lake, the daughter of Sam and Nellie (Merrick) Cloud. She was grew up and was educated in Fort Totten, graduating from Fort Totten High School. She then attended Haskell College in Kansas. She returned to the Fort Totten area where she lived, worked and raised her family through the years. She was united in marriage to Harold Morgan on May 13, 1977 at her home in St. Michael. Harold died on November 25, 1992.
Elizabeth spent her entire life as an ambassador of goodwill, kindness and love to everyone she met. She traveled around the countryside as part of her work for the Tribal Council and the Spirit Lake Nation. She provided physical and spiritual care and kindness to many as an employee of the CHR Program and also while working at the Chemical Dependency Unit. She worked as an enrollment clerk for several years and was instrumental in securing one of the first payment programs to the Spirit Lake Nation. In her travels and in her work, Elizabeth met many people and made a special connection with them. Many adopted her into their families and she also adopted many of the special people she met into hers. Elizabeth loved each and every one of her grandchildren, but yet was able to create a unique and special bond with each one individually.
As it became more difficult for Elizabeth to do her owning driving and run errands, she was so very thankful to her granddaughter, Chepa Cloud for her special loving care.
Elizabeth enjoyed every minute of this life, but took comfort in knowing there would be those that have gone before her to meet her in the Spirit World.
The spirit of love and caring that was so much a part of Elizabeth will live forever in our hearts and our memories. May our love and prayers accompany her on her journey home.
