Diane Leone Woods, 66 of Fort Totten, ND formerly of South Dakota died on Tuesday, June 26, 2007 at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks. Funeral Services for Diane will be held on Tuesday, July 3, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at the Fort Totten Recreation Center, Fort Totten. Rev. Wilbert D. Robertson will officiate and burial will be in St. Jerome’s Cemetery, rural Fort Totten. A Wake will be held at the Fort Totten Recreation Center on Monday beginning at 5:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 8:00 p.m. The Procession for Fort Totten Recreation Center will leave the Wal-Mart Parking Lot on Monday at 4:00 p.m. Diane Woods was born in Veblin, S.D. on Oct. 30, 1940, the daughter of Jacob Woods & Virginia Robertson Eastman. She was raised in Buffalo Lake, S.D. She attended elementary school in Sisseton and graduated from Flandreau Indian School in 1958. After graduating she moved to Ft.Totten, N.D. where she made her home and raised her family. She worked various jobs in the Ft.Totten area. She was a cook at Ft.Totten school for many years and retired as head cook. Diane enjoyed caring for others and worked as a home health care provider for Elizabeth Robertson. She loved children and took many into her home over the years. She was very kind hearted and never turned anyone away. She enjoyed spending time with her family and looking after her grandchildren. Diane really loved playing bingo with her closest friend of many years, Bernie McDonald. She was a member of the Dakota Baptist Church in Fort Totten, where she was baptized in 2005 and was a strong woman of faith. She is survived by three sons, Rob (Carol) Greywater Jr., Mark Fassett (LaCosta), and Perry Fassett (Julie) of Fort Totten; one daughter, Janelle Fassett (Landon) also Fort Totten; brother, Nicodemus Woods of Sisseton, S.D.; uncle, George W. Robertson; adopted sisters, Beverly LaBelle, Barbara Robertson and Brenda Robertson; stepfather, Ray Eastman also Sisseton; nieces Beckie (Marlin) Herald & Nicolette Knudson. Thirty-one grandchildren Nine Great Grandchildren Seven God children Adopted daughter Elrae (Steven) Potts, and adopted son, Franklin SpottedBird Special friend of many years, Allen Fassett. She is preceeded in death by her father, Jacob Woods; mother, Virginia Eastman; sons, Duane McDonald & Troy Woods Sr,; grandchild, Lindsey Littlewind and great granddaughter, Matisha Fassett.
