She attended country schools in the Munich and Langdon area. Lily’s mother died when she was just 15 years old so Lily spent the next few years helping to care for the family and family farm. On November 8, 1939, Lily was united in marriage to Leonard H. Henderson. They established their home on a farm at Calvin where they lived, worked and raised their family through the years. Leonard died on February 6, 1975 and in the fall of that year, Lily moved to Devils Lake where she has since made her home. Lily was a former member of the Glenila Presbyterian Church, Calvin and the Calvin Homemakers Club. After moving to Devils Lake she became a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church where she was very active in all aspects of the church. She was also a member of the Olive Branch of the Rebekah Lodge No. 9 and the RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteer Program). To think of Lily brought visions of her delicious baking and decorating beautiful cakes; her love of traveling around the United States and even trips to Scotland, England and Hawaii. She enjoyed fishing and in her later years even learned to hunt. We have lost someone special and she will be forever in our hearts.
