Myrna lost her father when she was 15 years old and big brother, Ralph “Tuff” Wallace stepped in as a surrogate father for the remainder of his life. Myrna attended school in Ellendale and graduated from Ellendale High School in 1946. She continued her education with completion of a one year clerical study at the Ellendale Business School. Myrna worked for the Selective Service Board, FHA and the BIA during those early years. During this time, Myrna met Ervin Dockter and they were united in marriage on March 12, 1949 at Monango, ND. Myrna and Ervin resided for a short time in Iowa and South Dakota but primarily in North Dakota including Fort Yates, 23 years in the Belcourt area and in 1983 moved to Devils Lake where they made their home through the years.

She was a very active member of the Lutheran Church throughout her life. She enjoyed golf and bowling for many years. Later in life, she switched her interests to dart throwing and socializing.
Myrna took excellent care of her two sons, Jim and Mike. She was a loving and dedicated wife to Ervin for nearly 58 years. She took great pride in her marriage, her sons and eight grandchildren.
