Julie Howell, 78 of Devils Lake, ND died on Tuesday, October 02, 2007 at the Good Samaritan Center in Devils Lake.
Mass of Christian Burial for Julie will be held on Friday, October 5, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Devils Lake. Fr. Robert Pecotte will celebrate the Mass and burial will be in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary and Scripture Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation on Friday will be in the Mother Theresa Hall of the church one hour prior to the funeral Mass.
Serving as Casket Bearers for Julie will be Les Windjue, Dennis Windjue, John Garske, Jim Garske, Dennis Scharf, Bill Wakefield and John Dumont.
Gift Bearers will be Wendy McAllister and Jeanne Aasand
Julie Bryl was born on July 18, 1929 in Towner County, near Cando, ND the daughter of Lawrence and Pearl (Tetreault) Bryl. She was raised on a farm near Cando and the family later moved to Devils Lake. She graduated from Devils Lake Central High.
Julie was united in marriage to Gilbert Howell on November 21, 1950 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. After their marriage they lived for a time in Seattle, Washington and also in California. In 1973, they returned to Devils Lake and farmed until retiring in 1989.
Julie loved gardening, baking and canning and was known for her wide variety of cookies and Hot-Hot-Hot Sauce.
Julie was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Altar Society and St. Rita’s Circle and was a former member of Catholic Daughters.
Julie was a devoted caregiver to her parents and her husband.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Jackie Howell and her husband, Randy Huwa of Orange, Virginia
