Charles R. Thompson, “Chucky from Kentucky” 51 of Devils Lake, ND died Sunday, May 10, 2009 at his home.
Funeral Services for Charles will be held on Friday, May 15, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. at Gilbertson Funeral Home Chapel, Devils Lake. Fr. Charles Leute O.P. will officiate and burial will be in Edmonton, Kentucky at a later date.
Visitation will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.
Serving as Casket Bearers for Charles will be Andrew Morin, Leo Delorme, Kenneth Lohnes, Glen Delorme, James Jetty and Chuck Redday.
Honorary Bearers are all of Charles’ Many Friends and Relatives.
Charles Randall was born on August 20, 1957 at Butte, Montana the son of Philip and Amelia (Jetty) Thompson. At age of 15 months, he moved with his parents to Kentucky where he was raised and educated, graduating from Metcalfe County High School, Edmonton in the class of 1974. He entered the United States Army on March 17, 1976 and served in Hamburg, Germany and was honorably discharged. In 1978, Charles and his mother returned to North Dakota where he has made his home through the years.
Charles attended Lake Region State College and received his certification in mechanics and worked for a time at Lake Chevrolet. He also worked at Sioux Manufacturing and the Spirit Lake Casino and Resort until ill health forced him to retire.
Charles loved the outdoors where he could hunt, fish and put his “green thumb” to use in his garden.
Charles will be greatly missed by his loving family and many dear friends. May he rest in God’s peace.
Charles is survived by twin children, Kendra Thompson, of Fort Totten and Kenneth Thompson and his wife Sarah of Cass Lake, Minnesota;
Grandchildren: Darrick Herman and Alayna Herman;
Mother: Amelia Thompson of Devils Lake;
Sisters: Phyllis A. Thompson, Kentucky, Nancy J. Scholz, Nashville, Tennessee, Donna Thompson, St. Augustine, Florida and Sandra L. Cecil of Louisville, Kentucky;
Nieces, Sara Cecil and Ann Walden and nephew, Ross Walden;
He was preceded in death by his father, Philip and mother of his children, Andrea Feather
