Helen M. Rupp, 85 of Devils Lake, formerly of Munich, ND died on Tuesday, February 20, 2007 at Woodside Village, Grand Forks, ND.
Funeral Services for Helen will be held on Friday, February 23, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Devils Lake. Rev. Justin Schmidt will officiate and burial will be in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery, rural Munich in the spring.
Visitation will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Thursday from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation on Friday will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral service.
Serving as Casket Bearers for Helen will be all of her many dear friends and family.
Honorary Bearers will be All of Helen’s Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren
Music will be provided by Mavis Blake, organist and Cathy Anfinson, soloist.
Helen Marie Aafedt was born on November 13, 1921 in Fordville, ND, the daughter of Leonard and Elva (Ruppert) Aafedt. She was raised and educated in Fordville, graduating from Fordville High School in 1938. After graduating, she moved with her family to Munich where her father opened Aafedt Meats.
Helen was united in marriage to Norbert O. Rupp on February 7, 1942 at Grand Forks, ND. They established their home in Munich where they would live, work and raise their family through the years. In 2000, they moved to Devils Lake. Norbert died on September 29, 2000.
Helen was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Munich. She was also a member of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League and two special highlights were trips to the National Conventions in Laramie, Wyoming and Washington D.C. as a delegate.
After their retirement, they spent their winters in Arizona. While living in Arizona, Helen learned the art of oil painting and was truly a talented artist, sharing her works with many friends and family. Helen enjoyed entertaining family and friends and a little card playing was always an added bonus. But Helen’s most treasured time was spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Grandchildren: Todd Krumland, Lisa (Pat) Mach, Karla (Marty) McDonald; Michael (Robin) Rupp, Jodi Deitz, Shari (Jason) Justice and Kari Marsh (Jordan Langen).
Great Grandchildren: Adam Mach, Madison and Dawson McDonald; Cleo Rupp, Krysten and Bradley Deitz, Mahala, Miranda and Aidan Justice, Ryan and Alexis Marsh and Jerika Langen.

Gene Rupp, Minot, ND
Many Nieces, Nephews, Grand Nieces and Grand Nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Norbert; sister, Evy Lamont and brother, Lloyd Aafedt.
