William James Herman, “Wild Wil” 29 of Fort Totten, ND made his journey to the Spirit World on Sunday, May 10, 2009 at Mercy Hospital, Devils Lake.
A Wake Service for William will begin at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 14th at St. Michael’s Recreation Center, St. Michael, ND with a Rosary at 8:00 p.m. The Procession to St. Michael will leave from Wal-Mart at 4:00 p.m.
Funeral Services for William will be held at St. Michael’s Recreation Center on Friday, May 15, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. with burial in St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery.
Music will be provided by Tony and Vina McDonald, Rhythm Riders and any drum groups who wish to share their songs.
Serving as Casket Bearers for William will be Brian Pearson, Mathias Jackson, Robert Herman Jr., Monte Herman, Austin Herman and Ashton Matheny.

William James Herman was born on March 13, 1980 at Mercy Hospital, Devils Lake, ND the son of the late Robert Herman, Sr. and Celeste (Yankton) Herman. William attended schools in Devils Lake, Warwick and graduated from Fort Totten High School in May 1999.
In 1999-2000, William was employed at KABU radio station as a DJ. It was at that time when he became knows as “Wild Wil”. William then moved to Texas in 2000 where he worked at a Mini-Mart convenience store as a cashier/attendant. He then moved to California in 2003 and became employed as a floral designer at the Black Iris Flower Shop in Laguna Beach, CA and then went on to work at Stats Craft and Floral as a floral designer and sales associate. In 2005, he moved back to Spirit Lake and was employed with the Spirit Lake Tribe until his untimely death.
William dearly treasured spending time with his family and friends. He had a great sense of humor, always had a smile on his face and always made everyone laugh. He enjoyed listening to music, dancing, cruising around, gardening, planting, traveling, watching movies and spending time with his pets, especially his two beloved dogs, Tiki and Princess. He was a sensitive and caring person. His kind and loving spirit will forever be in our hearts and memories. May our love and prayers accompany him on his journey home.
William is survived by his loving family: his mother, Celeste Herman; special friend, Johnny Vaughn; brothers, Robert Herman Jr., Monte (Bonnie) Herman and Austin (Spring) Herman; sister, Candace (Nate) Herman; half-brother, Robin Herman; half-sister, Cassie McDonald; nephews, Mark Jr., Dalton and Ashton Matheny, Monte Jr., Brett, Dylan and Jeffery Herman and Micah Herman; nieces, Fallon Cavanaugh, Megan, Lauren, Laurice, Flora, Bobbie and Johnae Herman; grandfather, Pierre Culbertson and numerous aunts, uncles, grandparents and cousins.
William was preceded in death by his father, Robert Herman, Sr; paternal grandparents, William Herman Sr. and Flora Culbertson; maternal grandfather, James Yankton Sr.; step-grandfather, Michael Greywater Sr.; uncles, Dan Herman, William Herman Jr. and Scott Yankton; aunts, Lois Yankton-Varon, Jessica Yankton and Roberta Yankton; great-grandparents, Angeline (Red Horse) Yankton and Alexander Yankton.
