Allen Norman Petrick was born October 27, 1969, in Minot to Jane Larson and Norman Petrick. Al spent his early years in Minot, before moving to Arizona to live with his mom where he attended elementary school. He spent his summers, in Makoti, with his dad at his grandparents’ farm. He moved to Makoti to attend high school where he played basketball and his favorite sport, baseball. He graduated in 1988 from North Shore High School in Makoti and continued his education at the University of North Dakota. He earned a bachelor's degree in civil engineering in 1992. He made Grand Forks his home and was once married to Marna Metzger. Al’s career began with Floan and Saunders and then Strata. He later relocated to Devils Lake for his job, but he worked throughout the state on various construction projects. He most recently worked for Monster Lawn based in Devils Lake. From his early years, Al loved the outdoors. He enjoyed camping and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a happy-go-lucky guy and very welcoming. He was always there for his brother and loved hosting family at his camper in the summers. Over the past few years, health issues restricted him from enjoying his favorite activities. May God bless the memory of Allen N. Petrick, who at the age of 52, was found passed away at his home in Devils Lake, on June 12, 2022. Al is survived by his parents, Norman “Butch” and Joan Petrick of Makoti, and Jane Rockwell of Arizona; brother, Greg and Megan Petrick of Bismarck; nieces, Eleanor and Winnie Petrick of Bismarck; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded by his grandparents, Elden and Eleanor Petrick, and Clarence and Bernice Larson.
