Anne Mae Two Hearts, 81 of the Spirit Lake Nation passed away on Friday, October 9, 2020 at Sanford on Broadway Medical Center in Fargo ND.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 16, 2020 at Seven Dolors Catholic Church, Fort Totten ND from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary and Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. The procession to Fort Totten will leave at 4:00 p.m. on Friday from City Plaza.
Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, October 17, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at the church. Anne will be laid to rest in St. Jerome’s Catholic Cemetery, Crow Hill District.
Anne Mae TwoHearts, daughter of Rachael (Smith) and Michael TwoHearts Sr. was born on July 14, 1939 in Fort Totten ND. She grew up in Fort Totten and attended Calvary Square School. With determination and hard work, she earned her GED and continued her education at United Tribes Technical School in Bismarck.
She worked in various cities across the United States including California and Sioux City, Iowa. After settling in Fort Totten, she worked for the Spirit Lake Tribe in Tribal Social Services for 10 years and retired from the Tribal Courthouse after 10 years of dedicated service. Anne also opened her heart and her home to many foster children through the years.
In her spare time, Anne enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles and at the same time every day, you would find her watching “Family Feud”.
Our dear Anne, loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and the dearest friend. We shall miss you always and love you always.
Anne is survived by her children Juanita Maye, Moorhead MN, Theodora Maye, Fargo ND, Antone LaVallie V and Edward LaVallie both of Fort Totten; many beloved grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren including special granddaughters Nellie RedOwl and Alisha LaVallie, special great grandkids, Aaliyah Ironheart, Jerzey and JJ Malaterre, special great great grandson Hayden Redfox; sisters Carolyn Walking Eagle, Patricia TwoHearts, Cathy TwoHearts and Becky TwoHearts; brothers Francis TwoHearts, Bernard TwoHearts, Isaac TwoHearts and Cletus TwoHearts; god children Calvin Feather, Terrell Thomas and Volante Littlewind; many precious nieces and nephews including special nieces Shirlene Feather and Jonelle Walking Eagle.
She went home to her Lord and those who preceded her in death. Her parents, grandparents, daughters Carrie TwoHearts and Theresa TwoHearts, grandsons Terrence RedOwl and Nico Ross, sisters Julia TwoHearts and a sister in infancy, brothers John TwoHearts, Jerome TwoHearts, Michael TwoHearts Jr., David Ronald TwoHearts, Tim TwoHearts, Norman TwoHearts and a brother in infancy, special niece and nephew Richard and Cheryl Feather.
Palllbearers will be Curtis RedOwl, Royce LaVallie, Benjamin LaVallie, Austin LaVallie, Calvin Feather, Mikah Buckles, Terrell Thomas, Joel Maye and Johnny Maye. Honorary Bearers are Mildred Chase, Myra Quinn, Virginia TwoHearts, Joann Smith, Tessie Brown, Ernestine Foote, Marilyn Thomas, Lola Waanatan, Charlie Walker, Raybert Littlewind, David Longie “Big Dave”, Butch Cavanaugh, Bruce Mindt, Kevin Mindt, Maggie Chaske, Vanessa Cavanaugh, Kelly Minor, Kim Arttus, Jody Arttus, Mark Mindt, Elizabeth Littleghost, Helena Littleghost, Mona Chaske and Lois Leben. Our precious Anne was loved by many and if we missed naming anyone, it was not intentional. God Bless You All.
