Annrene “Anna” Thompson, “Pejuta Wakan Yuhan Mani Win” of St. Michael passed away on Monday, September 2, 2024 at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND at the age of 63 years.
Annrene, the daughter of Ambrose and Irene (McKay) Thompson Sr. was born on April 2, 1961 in Devils Lake. ND. She grew up on the Spirit Lake Nation and made her life there through the years.
Annrene enjoyed beading and visiting with her friends. She also liked listening to Native American Church music and pow-wow songs. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren. She always put a smile on their faces.
We will forever hold Annrene’s precious memories in our hearts.
Annrene is survived by her loving family. Her sons: Tony Chaske, Gilbert Thompson and Gabe Longtail; grandchildren Legacy Thompson, Tristen Thompson and Teya Thompson; aunt Catherine Howard; brothers Gerard Thompson, Ambrose Thompson Jr., and James Thompson; sisters Germaine Thompson, Selina Horse, Marcella Thompson, Delphine Thompson, Arlene Thompson, and Florine Harrison and many precious nieces and nephews.
She joins in the Spirit World her father Ambrose, mother Irene, son Sampson Thompson, daughter Lulu Chaske and many relatives of the Grey Dog, Iron Lightning, McKay and DeMarce Tiospaye.
The Wake and time of remembrance for Annrene will be on Friday, September 6, 2024 beginning at 5:00 p.m. at the Tekakwitha Center, St. Michael, ND. Final Farewell will be on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at the Tekakwitha Center with the funeral service at the Native American Church Cemetery, rural St. Michael. The procession to St. Michael will leave at 4:00 p.m. on Friday from City Plaza.
Active Pallbearers will be Tony Chaske, Jr. Thompson, Myron Harrison, Michael Ironhawk, Clifford Good Soldier, Moriah Thompson, Athelia Harrison and Jessica Hale.
