Belinda Pearl Longie, “Kimamana Stån Winyan” (Purple Butterfly Woman) 60 of Tokio, ND began her journey to the Spirit World on Sunday, September 10, 2017 at Trinity Medical Center in Minot, ND. A Wake for Belinda will be held at the Wood Lake Recreation Center in Tokio on Friday, September 15, 2017 beginning at 5:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 8:00 p.m. The procession to Tokio will leave on Friday at 4:00 p.m. from City Plaza. The Funeral Service will be on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the Wood Lake Recreation Center with Reverend Larry Thiele officiating. Belinda will be laid to rest in the Bdecan Presbyterian Cemetery, rural Tokio. Belinda Pearl, was born on August 14, 1957 at Fargo, ND, the daughter of Henry Bear and Margaret Taylor Ross. At a young age the family moved to Warwick where Belinda grew up and attended Warwick Public School. In the early 1970’s, Belinda worked at Brunswick in Fort Totten and most recently had worked in the Housekeeping Department at the Spirit Lake Casino and Resort. Belinda was united in marriage to Gary Longie Sr. on January 28, 1976. They established their home in the Tokio area and have lived, worked, loved and raised their family there through the years. Belinda enjoyed going to the Casino, playing cards, dice games, doing crossword puzzles and making fry bread. She especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends at pow-wows, the many area community events and at her church. Her greatest joy came when she could be with her family and being a part of the many activities of her children, grandchildren and sisters and brothers. The Spirit Lake Tribe recognized Belinda as Mother of the Year in the 1980’s. Belinda’s loving family include her husband Gary Longie Sr.; children Cheryl Longie, Tina (Matt) Georgeson, Anna Longie, Gary Longie Jr., Synthia Longie, Jennifer Longie and Conrad Longie; grandchildren Autumn Yankton, Mahlan Redfox Jr., Mariah Redfox, Seanna Georgeson, Skyler Georgeson, Benjamin Longie, Savannah Longie, Madison Longie, Kiara Lovejoy and Braylee Longie; great grandchildren Ariza, Kiley, Jordan, Braxton and Dak Yankton; sisters Doris Longie, Sonya Knox, Anita Bear and Diane Jackson and brother Alvin Bear; several aunts, uncles many nieces and nephews including special niece Sherry Yvonne Taylor. She was welcomed into Heaven by those who had gone before her. Her parents; son Donald Longie; grandson Anthony Longie; siblings James, Michael, Jerome and Alva Bear, Solomon “Buddy” Ross, Nathan “Buck” Jones and Betty and Mathias Taylor.
