Beryl Joan DuBois

Beryl Joan DuBois, “Héyetu Wicaĥpi Win” (Evening Star Woman) was born on March 28, 1953, and began her journey to the Spirit World on Thursday, August 8, 2024.

Beryl Joan, born on Portage LaPrarie, Manitoba, Canada was the daughter of Geroge and Verna (Myron) Chaske. She grew up in Canada and attended a Boarding School in Berdell, Manitoba. She moved to North Dakota to the Tokio area, staying with the Ross family and Chaske family and living and working in the area.

She was working at the Brunswick Manufacturing Plant in Fort Totten when she met Daniel DuBois. They were united in marriage on June 5, 1974, and made their home in Fort Totten. They recently celebrated 50 years of love through good times and tough times, always counting on each other and the Creator to get them through each day.

Along with being a devoted wife and mother, Beryl continued her education at Little Hoop College, earning her Associates of Liberal Arts Degree and took classes in Mayville.

She most recently worked at Heartland Care Center as a CNA. There will times that Beryl, and the family would return to Canada where she worked to help support the family.

Beryl was the backbone of the family. She raised their family as well as welcoming with open arms, Daniel’s first family. She taught her children and grandchildren the traditional ways and made sure they were raised knowing their Creator, knowing the promises of the Creator and living a life of love, kindness, generosity, and respect for others.

Beryl was incredibly talented at sewing and doing bead work. The family loved to travel to pow-wows all around the country. They were instrumental in starting the Four Winds Pow-Wow Club. She was always active in the community, helping at the Elderly center, helping to raise funds through BINGO events, and lending a helping hand wherever it was needed.

Though Beryl may no longer walk beside us, her spirit will be with us always. Rest in peace.
