Beth E. Berg, 95 of Devils Lake ND passed away on Thursday, January 19, 2023 at her home in the loving care of family and Hospice of the Red River Valley. 

Visitation will be at Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake, ND on Monday, January 23, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. There will be a Prayer Service and time of remembrance at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Reverend Robert Buechler officiating. Funeral Services for Beth will be on Tuesday, January 24, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Devils Lake with Reverend Lori Pankratz officiating. Burial will be in the Devils Lake Cemetery. 

Beth Elaine (Wyman) Berg was born on July 14, 1927, to Oliver and Clara (Clevidence) Wyman in Big Stone City, South Dakota. Due to her mother’s illness with Multiple Scoliosis, Beth lived with her Grandma Clevidence until the age of 4. She then moved home to Peerless, Montana to her father’s homestead farm. Her mother died when Beth was 8 yrs.old. Her father remarried when she was 12 years old. Beth attended Coal Creek Rural School on the Canadian Line and also  Grade School Butte Creek , Montana. She graduated from High School in Peerless Montana with the class of 1945.

During World War II, Beth enlisted into the U.S. Army Cadet Core of Nursing in Devils Lake, North Dakota. She rode the train from Montana to Devils Lake to attend the Nursing program at Mercy Hospital. She met her would be husband, Gordon, through her roommate Verna Iverson (Gordon’s cousin).  She was united in marriage to Gordon Berg at St. Olaf Lutheran Church on Sept. 30, 1947. They were blessed with 65 years together, and raised 5 children. They farmed in the Garske and Webster area for many years until retiring in Devils Lake.

Beth had an adventurous side to her which resulted in the absolute love for Rodeos, Motorcycles and Ferris Wheels to name a few.

She was a supportive wife in Gordon’s political endeavors for seven terms as a State Representative. She was very involved with the DemNPL party where many life time friends were made.

Beth and Gordon traveled south for several winters, settling in Mesa Arizona, living in the Good Life Resort for many years.

Beth was very active in her church life. She was a member of Trinity Bergen Lutheran and Scandinavia Lutheran Church in her earlier years. She was a long time member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church. She enjoyed the many facets of the church life, worship and fellowship, Altar Guild, WELCA, Bible Study, quilting and serving as President for the ELCA. She made many lifelong friends at St. Olaf.  

She was a lifetime member of the Eagles Auxiliary, awarded Mrs. Eagle in 1998 and ultimately served as Grand Noble.

She belonged to the Rebekah Lodge No. 9 receiving the honor of 65 yr. pin, and was a member of the VFW in Devils Lake.

Beth also served as a North Dakota delegate to the National American Cancer Society for 10 years on the Local, State, and National levels and served as Secretary for 2 years.

Beth was a very loving, caring, and compassionate person. She brought joy and smiles along with her sweet wit to every conversation with her family and many friends. She was a women of strong faith in her Lord. She was dedicated to her daily prayers for her family, daily devotions and her Bible studies.

 She was a devoted and hard working farm wife and a thoroughly loving mother. She loved her children and grandchildren deeply and unconditionally.

Beth was known for her delicious caramel rolls that she often made for families during their time of loss.                                                                  

She loved her handy work of knitting and crocheting. She made many family treasures of doilies, baby baptism blankets, sweaters, afghans and baby caps.

She was loved by so many and will truly be heartfelt missed by all who knew and loved her.

Beth is survived by her sons: Arne (Kris) Berg, Dean (Carol) Berg, Dale Berg; daughter: Karn (Les) Windjue; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Alton and Edell Berg, John (Pam Bratsch) Berg, Richard Berg and Robert Ness..

15 Grandchildren: Heidi Sather, Tara (Paul) Audette, Shauna (Mark) Schneider, Travis Berg, Chet (Nicole) Berg, Paul Berg, Wes Berg, Katie Berg, Anna (Chris) Kaufmann, Rachel Berg, Lee Berg, Bethany (Chris) Dumont, Sharlene (Matt) Olson, Adam (Alexis) Windjue, Erin (Jim) Gibbens ;

29 Great Grandchildren: Elijah Williams, Jonah Williams, Luke Audette, McKenzie Blumhagen, Brooke Tofte, Cole Darling, Dominique Berg, Amaziah Berg, Benjamin Berg, Carter Berg, Elliot Berg, Faith Berg, Avianna Berg, Boden Berg, Kolt Cavanaugh, Cruz Kaufman, Koen Kaufman, Brax Kaufman, Katelyn Dumont, Connor Dumont, Bennett Dumont, Colton Dumont, Adley Olson, Lane Olson, Lenora Olson, Ava Windjue, Amelia Windjue, Eden Gibbens, Eleanor Gibbens;

2 Great Great Grandchildren : Isabelle Blumhagen, and Oliver Tofte;

Many Nieces and Nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and step mother Karen (Carrie) Wyman, her husband Gordon, daughter Cynthia, grandson Andrew, brother, Chauncey Wyman, sister in-law Lillian Wyman, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Margaret Anderson, Donald and Leapha Berg, Selmer and Nelda Berg, LeRoy and Helen Mackey, Bernice Ness.

Casket Bearers will be Beth's grandsons Chet Berg, Paul Berg, Wes Berg, Lee Berg, Travis Berg and Adam Windjue. Honorary Bearers will be the "Family" of loving staff and the many friends at Eventide Court #3.
