Betty F. Morin, 93 of Devils Lake formerly of St. Michael, ND passed away on New Year’s Eve, December 31, 2019 at Eventide Devils Lake Care Center in the loving care of her family.

Visitation will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake, ND on Friday, January 3, 2020 from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at St. Michael’s Catholic Church from 5:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m.  The procession to St. Michael will leave on Friday at 4:00 p.m. from City Plaza.

Mass of Christian Burial for Betty will be on Saturday, January 4, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church with Reverend Paul Schuster celebrating the Mass. Burial will be in the spring in St. Michael’s Cemetery.

Betty Frances Jetty was born on July 1, 1926 at Fort Totten, ND the daughter of Ambrose and Frances (Lohnes) Jetty. She attended Little Flower Mission School at St. Michael and also Boarding School in Stephen, South Dakota through the 8th grade.  She returned to Spirit Lake Nation and completed her education at Fort Totten High School.  Betty was married to Frank Morin and they were the proud parents of 8 children.  Frank died on November 6, 1980

Betty was a dedicated hard-working employee of Mercy Hospital for over 31 years. She worked in housekeeping and laundry and for several years before retirement in 1991 she was head of the department. 

Betty’s family meant the world to her. She loved each and every one of them with all her heart.  With such a large family there were many tragedies and hard times, but she faced each of those challenges with great faith and love.  She was an active member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church and later St. Joseph Catholic Church in Devils Lake. 

Betty loved her family, her Lord and Savior and her dear friends so very much. She will be greatly missed.

Betty’s loving family include her children Patricia WalkingEagle, Fort Totten, Andrew Morin Sr., St. Michael, Marsha BlueShield and Debbie Morin Devils Lake, Bonita Morin and Charles Morin, St. Michael and Kevin Morin, Devils Lake; 19 grandchildren; 71 great grandchildren; 36 great great grandchildren; sister Gloria Jetty; many nieces, nephews and their families and many dear friends.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; daughter Mary Frances Herman; grandchildren Andrew Morin Jr., Della Rose Felix, Lisa Morin, Joseph Herman Jr. and Kermit WalkingEagle Jr.; great grandson Delano Gaking; sisters Genevieve Nash, Doris Morin, Beatrice Abrahamson and Marie Baker; brothers David Jetty and infant brother Gabriel Jetty; sister-in-law Vivian Jetty.

If we forgot to name someone, it was not intentional. Please forgive us as we do the best we can in this very difficult and sad time.  God Bless You All.
