Brenda M. Myrick-Morin, 67 of St. Michael ND began her journey to the Spirit World on Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at Eventide Heartland Care Center with loving family at her side.
There will be a gathering of family and friends at St. Michael’s Catholic Church on Monday, March 21, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a time of prayer at 7:00 p.m. The procession to St. Michael will leave at 4:00 p.m. on Monday from City Plaza, Devils Lake.
Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday, March 22nd at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Paul Schuster celebrating the Mass. Burial will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery.
Brenda Mae Merrick was born on July 24, 1954 in Devils Lake ND, the daughter of Frank and Pauline (LeftBear) Merrick. Brenda spent most of her younger years in Chicago, Illinois where her parents relocated and made their home. She graduated from the 8th grade, then attended Waller High School until there returned to North Dakota.
When the family returned to North Dakota they moved to Warwick, North Dakota where she attended school. She also was enrolled in school at Devils Lake Central High School and Standing Rock High School at Fort Yates.
Brenda met Harvey LaRock and they made their home in Oakland, California for seven years. There she attended Don’s Beauty and Cosmetology School. She was at the top of her class and ready to graduate when her brother, Fulton was in an automobile accident. Brenda and her family returned to North Dakota where she made her home.
Brenda then met Andrew Morin Sr., they married and were together for 30 years thill they parted ways.
Brenda went on to pursue her education at Cankdeska Cikana Community College in Fort Totten where she graduated in 2011 with her degree in Liberal Arts and Early Childhood Education. She worked for the Head Start Program for 21 years and loved every moment of it. Brenda retired in July of 2019 due to health issues.
Brenda’s hobbies were drawing and she loved listening to music and dancing. She would watch American Bandstand. Her most treasured moments were spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
We will miss you and love you always.
Brenda has many grandchildren and great grandchildren whom she loved with all her heart and she will miss them greatly. She is also survived by her mother Pauline Myrick; sister Cathy and James Yankton; children Clarence F. (Crystal) Morin Sr., Julie Ann Morin, Jason (Mary) LaRock and Jennifer ( ) LaRock Belvin, many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Brenda will be reunited with her father Frank Myrick, grandson Darrett Mudgett Jr., brother Fulton Merrick Sr., sister Deborah Kaye Morsette, grandparents Simon and Sarah LeftBear and Joseph and Emma Merrick.
Pallbearers for Brenda will be Clarence F. Morin Sr., Clarence Morin Jr., Jason LaRock Sr., Jason LaRock Jr., Joseph Yankton Sr., Scott Jetty, Fulton Merrick Jr. and Jalen LaRock.
