CAROL M. JABS Carol Martha Jabs, age 84 died peacefully on Saturday, June 17, 2017 at her apartment home at the Opera House in Devils Lake, ND. Carol was born May 29, 1933 in Banner Township, Cavalier County, North Dakota, the daughter of Francis and Louise (Ames) Scott. In 1952 Carol married her dear husband Marvin D. Jabs. Upon their marriage, Carol moved to the family farm South of Fort Totten ND. Carol worked hard on the farm for over fifty years, feeding farm hands, running parts, milking cows, and feeding and watering livestock. Most importantly she was a loving wife and mother to three sons. In addition to being a farm wife and mother, Carol enjoyed singing in the choir and teaching Sunday School at the First Baptist Church in Devils Lake. Carol was a devout Christian and worked hard to pass her beliefs on to her children. In later years, Carol worked at DTI (Dakota Tribal Industries) at Fort Totten as a sewer for 20 years, prior to retiring in 2009 and moving off the farm to her apartment home at the Opera House in Devils Lake. She was happy in retirement to spend time visiting family. Carol was a member of First Baptist Church until it closed then was a member of Christ Free Lutheran Church in Devils Lake and a volunteer of Republican Women. Carol is survived by her sons, Dwight (Patty) Jabs of Devils Lake, ND, and Reese (Theresa) Jabs of Minneapolis, MN; Three Grandchildren (Dwight’s) Scott Jabs, Devils Lake, Matthew Jabs, Sioux Falls, SD, (Reese’s) Holly Jabs, Minneapolis MN; Great Granddaughter (Matthew’s), Kassidy Jabs; Sister, Arlene McDougal, Everett, Washington. Carol was very close to her Sister-in-Law Jane Jabs, Devils Lake and also leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews. Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin D. Jabs, her parents, Frances and Louise Scott, sons, David M. Jabs, and infant son Daniel Jabs, brothers and sisters, Walter Scott, Loretta Courtney, Mazie Loehr. Arden Scott, Esther Tronnes. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at the Gilbertson Funeral Home on Sunday, June 25, 2017. A Memorial Service will be held at Christ Free Lutheran Church, Devils Lake at 2:00 PM on Monday June 26, 2017. Burial will be in the Devils Lake Cemetery. .
