Carol J. Reed, age 77, a life-long resident of Devils Lake, ND passed away peacefully on Friday, February 21, 2020 at Sanford's Hospice House with two of her great nieces at her side.
A Celebration of Carol's life at a later.
Carol Jean Jager was born on October 6, 1942 at Mercy Hospital in Devils Lake, to Fred and Rose (Schiele) Jager. She grew up on her family’s farm north-east of Devils Lake. She went to Ontario country school through 8th grade. She then went to St. Mary’s High School for 2 years before transferring to Crary High School where she graduated May of 1960. Her life-long trade was working as a dry cleaner. She worked as a dry cleaner for 59 years. She enjoyed her work and prided herself on the quality of her work.
Growing up on the farm was always one of Carol's fondest memories. She loved being on the farm and helping her dad with the animals and chores. She was always out in the barn when he was working. Anyone who knows Carol knows she had a special place in her heart for animals, especially for her cats. After a long day at work, she enjoyed the peace and quiet of her home and a purring cat (or three) on her lap.
Carol was such a kind and loving soul, always willing to lend a helping hand when asked but could also be a spitfire. She loved to laugh and have fun. As we remember her today, we can be comforted that she was welcomed into Heaven with open arms by our Father, Jesus Christ and her family that she missed so dearly.
Carol’s loving family include her sister Anna Bachmeier, Devils Lake; nieces and nephews Laurie (Damon) Feland, godson James Bachmeier, Ronnette (Jamie) Orness and Keith Jager; great nieces and great nephews, goddaughters Jannelle (Kent) Stevens Melinda Elston, Jamie Orness, Robert Orness and Jaydee Orness and great-great nieces and nephews, Kayleigh, Brayden, Abbigail, Ayden, Shaylie, Dave, and Kyler.
She was welcomed to her heavenly home by her parents, brothers Kenneth and Jerry Jager, nephews Dale, Randy and Blake Bachmeier, and her life-long partner Duane Reed.
