Carroll Lee Lalum

Carroll Lee Lalum, died Sunday, September 5, 2021, at his farm.

Carroll was born in Devils Lake, ND to Ella and Chester Lalum on May 11, 1948.  Carroll graduated from Minnewaukan High School, Lake Region Junior College, and Valley City State College.  He married Kathleen Feist on November 27, 1970.  The were married 50 years. 

Carroll and Kathy lived on the family farm where Carroll was raised.  Carroll oversaw his farming interests, worked as a tax preparer for 35 years, and worked as a crop hail and multi-peril crop insurance adjuster for 28 years-the last 2 years as an adjuster supervisor.  He retired in 2012. 

Carroll was a baptized, confirmed lifelong member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Minnewaukan.  He was a devoted father to his sons, Casey, and Anthony, taking them golfing, fishing, and hunting.  He attended all their school activities.  Carroll was an avid sports fan, playing basketball at Lake Region State College and playing on softball teams during his younger days.  As he got older, he had to be content watching his sons play baseball, basketball, and football.  He especially enjoyed going to their college football games. 

Left behind to carry on his memory are his wife, Kathy, his son and daughter-in-law Casey and Sherry, his grandson Cannen, his granddaughter Finley all of Lignite ND, his brother-in-law and sister-in-law Pat and Mary Feist of Bismarck ND and his niece Amber Feist of Vista CA. 

Carroll was preceded in death by his parents, sister Linda, father-in-law and mother-in-law Andy and Rita Feist, nephew Cody Feist and his precious son Anthony who died tragically as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. 

Funeral Services for Carroll will be held on Saturday, September 11, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake ND with burial in the St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery, rural Minnewaukan. 

Visitation will be at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Friday, September 10, 2021, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and continue Saturday one hour prior to the funeral service.

Memorials may be directed to St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery, Leeds Ambulance or Lake Region Ambulance in memory of Carroll.
